Brownie Batter Dip Recipe: Easy Party Appetizer for Pretzels

  • Author: Emily Rhodes
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 10 servings 1x

Description

This ultra-creamy brownie batter dip is a quick, crowd-pleasing dessert that tastes just like nostalgic brownie batter—no baking required! Perfect for parties, game nights, or late-night snacks, it pairs beautifully with pretzels, fruit, and marshmallows.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (18–20 oz) brownie mix
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup whole milk (or almond/oat milk for dairy-free)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
  • Pretzels (sticks, twists, or rods) for dipping
  • Strawberries, washed and hulled, for dipping
  • Marshmallows (regular or mini) for dipping
  • Graham crackers, broken into sticks, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Remove cream cheese and butter from the fridge and let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes, or microwave on low in 10-second bursts to soften.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add softened cream cheese and butter. Beat with an electric mixer for about 2 minutes until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add the dry brownie mix and mix on low speed just until incorporated. Sift the mix first if it has big lumps.
  4. Gradually add milk while beating, until the mixture is creamy and dippable. Add more milk if too thick.
  5. Add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat for 1 minute until well combined. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  6. Gently fold in mini chocolate chips with a spatula, if using.
  7. Transfer dip to a serving bowl. Sprinkle extra mini chips or sprinkles on top for decoration.
  8. Arrange pretzels, fruit, marshmallows, and graham crackers around the bowl. Serve immediately, or cover and chill for up to 2 hours for a firmer texture. If chilled overnight, let warm up for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

For dairy-free, use plant-based cream cheese, butter, and milk. For gluten-free, use a certified gluten-free brownie mix and pretzels. Adjust sweetness to taste, and chill for a firmer texture. If dip is grainy, mix more or add a splash of milk; if too runny, add more powdered sugar or brownie mix. Microwave the dry brownie mix for 30 seconds if concerned about raw flour.
